Methodology
The methodology for trainers and training administrators who will be engaged in implementation of the Silver Age education program consists of two major parts:
- Teacher's Guide containing teaching support materials for the Silver Age Course trainers
- Evaluation Kit providing tools for measurement of the outcomes of the training
Bellow you find methods for each involved language:
The guide aims at ensuring high educational standards for the course training process. The suggested education methodology develops the general teachings of gerontagogy into specific and detailed recommendations on:
- Setting up and prioritizing education objectives
- Choosing the appropriate training forms
- Selecting adequate training methods
- Employing adequate and effective diagnostics tools
Teaching methodology recommendations are detailed up to the individual lesson level and they are developed in accord with the LM worksheet contents (exercises) provided to the trainees. In addition the Teacher’s Guide includes the Course Adaptation Guidelines, which provide practical guidelines for delivering the course and specifically for those trainers who happen to teach groups with special needs.
Evaluation Kit
Measuring outcomes of the training is an important part of the Silver Age course. Evaluation Kit is a comprehensive evaluation tool, which consists of three sets of questionnaires, which are designed to collect a feedback from the Silver Age course participants:
- Trainee’s Evaluation Questionnaire
- Trainer’s Evaluation Questionnaire
- Impact Evaluation Questionnaire
Application Verification
Implementation parameters and the effectiveness of the Silver Age Course were verified in the piloting classes. Every consortium member participated in the course verification program. The implementation of the course piloting classes was to a certain extent affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our students, elderly citizens, were the very segment of population, which was hit hardest by the pandemic outbreak. We could not therefore blame them for being cautious or hesitant about staying in a larger group. This attitude was, however, rather an exception than a rule. Frequent re-scheduling of the classes due to ever-changing pandemic restrictions was a common experience during this project phase. In Italy and Greece it was necessary, due to the imposed restrictions, to implement the classes online. Nevertheless, all five learning modules of the Silver Age Course were tested out in full and the verification program completed successfully. Eventually 171 trainees enrolled into the pilot training program. Watch our video on YouTube from piloting courses. The results are very favorable and are presented in the attached VERIFICATION REPORT.
Project Videos
To bring across the main ideas behind the SAGE project we produced a 6-minute long informative video, which describes the motivations for the project, explains its objectives, shows implementation steps and informs about the key products. The video is released in six languages: in English, Czech, Greek, Icelandic, Italian and Slovenian. It is posted on YouTube here:

Initial release of the Silver Age Course
[2021-3-31] On March 31st, 2021, the first full version of our Silver Age Course for seniors has been released! The initial version of the course is issued in English. Translations into native languages of our SAGE partnership will follow. A detailed view of the structure of all course modules is presented in the COURSE PLAN, which provides a detailed view of the course curriculum, describing division of the course modules into individual lessons along with class hour allocations for the training system components.
The analytical phase of the project is done!
[2020-9-25] In June 2020 our partnership completed the analytical phase of the project. The outcome of our analytical work is encapsulated in our first product - Course Plan. The plan contains a detailed specification of the course. The whole course is comprised by five education modules:
- Health
- Exercise and Nutrition
- Mental Health
- Residential Life
- Community Living
Each partnership member is in charge of developing one module. The total length of the course is 144 class hours. The next major milestone is coming up in March 2021 when the initial release of the course content is due.
